desires

a few weeks ago I was running around a hectic italian city carrying portfolios and tumbling into printing presses to finish magazine layouts and meet deadlines before I was to hop the train to an airport out of town, fly to spend an evening in ireland, and return to america after all my many months in the warm italian paradise that reminds me of the fondest times.
during the journey, i made this list of what i wanted as soon as i had an apartment again in america, a place i could cozy up to and scatter things about the floor. the floor that will be hardwood, not marble. thank you, baby america.
desires:
1. my very first, personal sewing machine. yes.
2. a long chain and decoration; all the swedish girls have them, with charms far too charming.
3.Interesting dye for a cream colored dress that was stunning one time, and now I’ve grown tired of. Stunning when I got off a small airplane to meet a man I loved in Sardegna, and climbed down the stairs of the plane in the light of a Mediterranean island's late afternoon orange sun. It was my first visit there in that cream colored dress.
4. clear nail polish, in the blur of packing everything (and even layering clothes through the airport that, try as i might, would not be contained in containers; I wore SEVEN dresses on the plane home. I wore seven dresses over each other.) this was lost or forgotten and needed.
